Become a Home Based
ECE Educator
Would you like to consider being an educator for the Tauranga Region Kindergartens Home Based Early Childhood Education Service?
If so, please consider the following questions carefully…..
· How many hours a day would you be prepared to take care of children?
· How do you feel about wear and tear on your home?
· Are you comfortable about keeping written records on children in your care?
· Do you enjoy taking courses to improve your skills?
· Do you mind being at home by yourself?
· Do others in your home support you caring for children?
· Would you and other’s living in your home who are over the age of 18 years consent to a police check?
· Would you attend a playgroup with the children in your care on a fortnightly basis?
· How do you feel about caring for babies?
· Are you in good health?
· Do you love children?
If you have answered yes to the above questions please read on.
What is expected of an educator?
· The educator is expected to have a warm, friendly caring personality.
· The educator is expected to have experience with children and the ability to meet the child’s needs within a stimulating learning environment that is centred around the children’s interests.
· The educator must meet the home base child care requirements by providing a safe environment for children in their care.
· The educator is required to complete a first aid certificate
· The educator is required to participate in training programmes.
Reimbursement
Educators will be reimbursed per hour per child that they care for up to $24 per hour dependant on your training.
