Sustainable Education
Tauranga Region Kindergartens has endorsed education for sustainability (EfS). This means we are working to operate the educational programme, and our kindergartens, in a sustainable manner.
Education for sustainability was initially adopted by Papamoa and Papamoa Coast Kindergartens which have been actively involved in the National EnviroSchools Programme since 2005.
In 2010 they were both awarded Green-Gold medals for their efforts. In 2008 Tauranga Region Kindergartens endorsed that programme and many other kindergartens have since joined.By 2010 Katikati and Gwen Rogers Kindergartens had been awarded Bronze status. Teachers can readily network with others to share ideas and collaborate on programmes.
Endorsing EfS means that all our kindergartens and the administration are on board with sustainability, and resources will be provided to support them. It provides an opportunity to create a difference for our environment by focussing on sustainability practices for children, whanau and local communities.
We recognise that need through our educational programmes to build an awareness of the growing global issues facing future gemerations.
